Why Your Gym Needs a Branded Domain (Not a Generic Link)
Members trust brands, not platforms. We'll walk you through setting up a custom domain on GymOS and why it improves membership conversion rates.
When someone searches for your gym online and finds your landing page, what URL do they see in their browser?
If the answer is something like gymos.app/gym/iron-republic or app.someplatform.com/your-gym, you're making your members aware of the software behind your business — not your brand.
There's nothing wrong with using a platform to power your gym's online presence. Most modern gyms do. But the platform should be invisible to your members. What they should see is your name, your domain, your brand.
What a Custom Domain Actually Does
A custom domain means your gym's landing page, membership application form, and member-facing content live at a URL you own — like www.ironrepublicgym.com or members.elitefit.co — rather than a platform subdirectory.
To your members, visiting this URL is identical to visiting any professional website. To you, it's the same GymOS platform powering everything behind the scenes — just with your domain in front.
The Conversion Argument
Landing page optimization research consistently shows that branded, custom domains outperform platform subdomains in conversion rates. The primary driver is trust.
When a prospective member is deciding whether to submit their information or inquire about membership, a branded domain signals:
- Permanence — this gym has invested in its own web presence
- Professionalism — this isn't a temporary setup on someone else's platform
- Credibility — the gym operates like a real business, not a side project
The effect is most pronounced on mobile, where the URL is more visible, and among first-time visitors who have no prior relationship with your gym.
Gyms that switch from a generic platform URL to a custom domain typically see a 15–25% improvement in landing page form submissions — which translates directly to more membership inquiries and trial sign-ups.
Branding Consistency Across Every Touchpoint
Your gym brand lives in multiple places: your signage, your social media, your WhatsApp communication, and your web presence. When a member shares your link, when you run ads that drive traffic to a URL, when you print a QR code on a flyer — all of these should point to a domain that reinforces your identity.
www.ironrepublicgym.com on a flyer makes sense. gymos.app/gym/iron-republic on a flyer looks like you ran out of budget.
The goal isn't to hide the tools you use — it's to present a coherent, professional brand at every touchpoint your members and prospects encounter.
How to Set It Up on GymOS
Setting up a custom domain on GymOS takes under 30 minutes and requires no technical knowledge beyond accessing your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.).
Step 1: Purchase your domain if you don't already have one. .com is preferred, but .co, .gym, and country-specific domains work perfectly well.
Step 2: In GymOS, go to Settings → Domain and enter your custom domain.
Step 3: In your domain registrar's DNS settings, add a CNAME record: - Name/Host: www (or @ for root domain) - Value/Target: your GymOS platform endpoint (shown in the settings screen)
Step 4: Save and wait. DNS changes typically propagate within 15–30 minutes, occasionally up to a few hours.
Once propagated, visiting your domain will serve your GymOS landing page — with your branding, your content, your custom colors and logo — exactly as configured.
What Members See
Your gym's full landing page — hero section, about us, training programs, facilities, testimonials, membership plans, and contact form — all served from your domain. The URL in their browser is yours. The SSL certificate is handled by GymOS automatically. The experience is seamless.
Members never see a GymOS URL unless they navigate to the dashboard login.

If you're using GymOS without a custom domain, you're leaving a meaningful first impression on the table. The setup takes 20 minutes. The credibility benefit lasts as long as your gym does.
